Five Ways to Enhance Your Study Time

By October 30, 2019Uncategorized

Whether you are attempting to study for the CPA exam while working a full-time job, are a master’s degree seeking student, or if you are studying for the exam 24/7 (not literally), we have compiled a list of five tactics that could grossly enhance and optimize your study schedule. Here are five tips that you should incorporate into your daily study routine:

1. Track Your Study Time

Whether it be in a journal, your cell phone, or on even on a good old fashion post-it note, we have found that students who track their study time are more likely to remain aware of what topics they have covered and how much they have left to study before test day.

2. Turn Off Electronics

This is no secret. Studying with a distraction such as texting or social media activity while studying is a huge no-no. In fact, Cal Newport, the famous author of the book “Deep Work” and “Digital Minimalism” states that “the ability to perform deep work-focusing without distraction on a cognitively demanding task-will become an important job skill”. So, if Cal Newport is recommending you refrain from using electronics while performing deep work, then studying for the CPA exam certainly qualifies.

3. Flag Challenging Questions

Whether you are practicing multiple-choice questions or task-based simulations with your online CPA review course provider, we recommend that you flag the most challenging questions so that you can come back to only the ones that you had trouble with.

4. Incorporate Supplemental Questions

Repetition, repetition, repetition is the name of the game when it comes to studying for the CPA exam. The truth is, there are various ways that questions could be asked come exam day and seeing as many different questions as you can will be key to preparing yourself. We recommend using Universal CPA Review test-bank and final review products for maximizing your efforts in studying.

Make Flash Cards

Flash cards are incredibly helpful for studying “on-the-go”. Flash cards will help you remember key mnemonic’s and terms so that you can pick up as many easy points as you can. Although flash cards alone aren’t the answer to getting the 75% that you are looking for, they are certainly a method of pumping your score 2-3 points.

At the end of the day, the CPA exam is an incredibly challenging task, just look at the pass rates. You need an optimal combination of study resources and the right mentality for passing these exams. But just know, that there is a path to success for every candidate out there.
